Mellano & Company describes itself, on the market’s own vendor page, as a family-owned farmer and wholesaler sourcing from its 400-acre farm in Oceanside and from around the world. That is exactly what the grows-and-imports label means, and they say it themselves. This entry is the reason the taxonomy exists: it describes, it doesn’t score. A family farm that also imports is not a lesser thing than a family farm that doesn’t. It is a different thing, and you deserve to know which one you’re standing in front of.
